About the Artist

A California native, Nicole Rudolph was born in Hollywood but grew up on a small ranch in the Los Padres National Forest near Lake Cachuma. Her life ever since has been a balance of those two spaces; city or wildlife, people or wilderness. Her artwork follows the themes of people within nature and transitional spaces or states of being, often includes the visual language of ritual and folklore. As a biracial, bisexual, intersectional feminist, Chicana, Nicole looks to bring awareness to those that fall between definitions as both existing and valid. She studies wildlife as closely as she interviews people and is always looking for the connections between us all.

Nicole is currently the Director of Museo Eduardo Carrillo, an online museum that works to promote and support the Chicanx community and the legacy of Chicano artist Eduardo Carrillo. Nicole graduated with highest honors from UCSC with a double major in Studio Art and the History of Art and Visual Culture with a concentration in curation. Her series Seance of Duality won the UCSC Dean's and Chancellor's Award for excellence in research. She is on track to receive her MA in Art History and Visual Culture from SJSU in the Fall. Her thesis focuses on the fostering of empathy and connection as an artistic approach in Contemporary minoritized identity art.
